Obituary of Evo Toni

Evo Toni, age 76, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Sun., Oct. 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Stratford. He was the beloved husband of Charlene (Pawlak) Toni; his wife of 46 years. Evo was born and raised in Derby, son of the late Louis and Maria Toni. He was a graduate of Derby High School, Class of 1956 where he held an impressive football record and was a member of the CT Hurricane Marching Band. Evo was employed as a Foreman at Sikorsky Aircraft for 42 years, and even lent his time as a baseball umpire and football official for W.C.F.O.A. for over 30 years. Most notably, he was a proud and dedicated member, former president, and consistent figure at the Adriatic Marchegian Club, where he was key to the running of many events especially the monthly Porchetta Dinners. Evo is the loving father of Bernadette Jopp (Daniel) and Keith Toni (Lillie); the adoring grandfather of Colette C. Toni, Vinci Toni, Derek Jopp, Conor Jopp, and Gia Toni; the caring brother of Samuel Toni (Barbara), Vivian McElroy, Barbara Orazietti, and Margaret Orazietti. He is also survived by numerous family members and friends that will sorely miss him. He was predeceased by his brothers, Flavio and Olympio Orazietti. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thurs., Oct. 23, 2014 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. On Friday, October 24, 2014 Friends are invited DIRECTLY to Our Lady of Grace Parish, 497 Second Hill Ln, Stratford at 10:30 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. His interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Evo's memory to the American Cancer Society.
