Obituary of Awilda Gonzalez

Awilda Gonzalez, age 59, returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at her Bridgeport residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Tomas Gonzalez. Awilda was born in Bridgeport; daughter of Sixto Cosme and Carmen G. Vazquez. She was a true believer in Jesus Christ and exemplified him in every aspect of her life, especially her job as she was employed as a Substance Abuse Counselor by Recovery Network of Programs. When not serving her community, Awilda loved to dance and go for peaceful walks in nature. She will be remembered with love and sorely missed by all who knew her. Awilda is the loving mother of William Rosario, Nathan Montalvo, Angel Gonzalez, Joshua Gonzalez and Sam Gonzalez; the adoring grandmother of Nathan Montalvo, Jr., Jonah Montalvo and Jacob Montalvo; and the caring sister of Roberto, Annie, and Irma Cosme. Friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Monday, July 8, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. Her Funeral Service is scheduled to begin 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the Funeral Home. Her interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06610.
