Mrs. Maria I didn't have the pleasure to meet you, but I feel that I know you well because Jeanette always talked about you. It was so nice to see you so peaceful and happy. I know that you are in with all your family with God.

My speech…
Monday, January 7, 2019
I have many fond memories of my mom. Our times together did not consist of taking vacations to Disney or abroad nor did they consist of going to any concert. However, there were those long rides that we'd take driving along I95 or getting lost on purpose to view the beautiful sceneries and only to imagine what it was like on the inside. There were also those trips to a local antique store, of which, I always enjoyed. Trips to the ice cream parlor and to the park were also a treat.
During the summer months my mom would purchase workbooks according to our age group. She'd rip the answer key from the back and give my brother and I homework. My brother was not allowed to play outside with his friends and I wasn't allowed to brush my long hair while watching all of the other kids play from our 8th Floor apartment until she checked our homework. We actually enjoyed it after a while. Another memory was sitting down with the TV guide and taking turns every night to pick a show that we’d all watch as a family.
One of my fondest memories of my mom is our time together during my high school graduation. She didn't graduate from high school, so it was very important to her that I earn my diploma. At the time, I had many friends with cars so getting around was easy but, I knew I wanted to make my mom proud. My mom was never a driver. One of her early driving lessons involved her nearly driving the car through the house. Needless to say, we were going to need a reliable means of transportation to my graduation, if we were going to make it on time. When graduation day arrived, I arranged for my friend to drive us to Westhill High School for the ceremony, but my mom was not receptive to jump into a car with a bunch of teenagers. Her response was very clear and straight forward "Janecita I am not going to get into a car with your friends. I'm taking the city bus. But, if you want to go with them go and I will meet you there." Now, my friends were important to me, but my mom was more important and I knew this was her big day just as much as it was mine, so I decided to accompany her on the old city bus line. I'll never forget the two of us on the bus, dressed up for the big day and her face filled with great pride and excitement as she took a collage of pictures to remember this special day. After the ceremony, my mom looked at me and said , "You can do anything you put your mind to, Janecita, anything " Being that she was my main inspiration to earn my diploma, I believed her.
There was nothing my mom wouldn't do within her means when raising Jose and me. Whether it was making sure that we had our yearly physicals, or that we were prepared for school. She always found the time to tell us that she loved us with the right things to say to make us feel good. She made sure that we were ok all of the time. There was also that time of which I will never forget when the State of CT told me to interpret to her that she had to get a job and that they would help her find one . She was so excited because she did want to go to work. She wanted to provide us with as many opportunities as she could while instilling family values; even during the most difficult times. We didn't have the most money, but my mom would manage to work to keep our clothes clean and make sure we had well deserved opportunities like school trips to Pennsylvania, Nature's Classroom and even Washington DC. She also allowed us to part take in school events such as school plays, gymnastics and chorus.
She loved us both with all her being. She loved well - she loves all and everyone.
Her devotion to us was shown and proved over the years. My mom's last 8 plus years weren't easy yet my brother and I provided her with all the love and care that we could and our devotion to her was so great that it allowed her to live longer than she would have without us, as Dr. Shore and many doctors' have said. No question that she was worthy of it all. Despite all of the hospital stays and advanced medical procedures, she always maintained her spirit of positivity and excitement.
Our mom was the strongest woman that we knew and will ever know. I don't know that anyone will ever fill her tough size 3 shoes, ever. She taught us to stay strong while being happy and remaining humble. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she'd smile and brighten the day of each and every person she met along the way. At the young age of 5 years old, I almost instantly became my mom's voice, she relied on me to translate when communicating with teachers, doctors, workers; but over the course of all of our time together, she in many ways became my voice. Whether I felt happy or sad, there was my mom always smiling, singing or dancing to make me feel better.
I am so proud and very privileged to have had her as my mom, my dad, my friend and with much pride to say that my mom, Maria Rosado made me who I am today, and I will take her with me wherever I go. May she rest in peace, and may she sing and dance her heart away without losing her breathe inLove heaven. I don't have any doubt that we'll be singing and dancing again. I love you dearly and know that you are with those that love you; until we meet again mami…
Love Always & Forever,
Your Janecita
