a great student and a great teacher. I am enriched by having met and worked

Receive my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mom, Ruth, into eternal life. Sympathy because you'll miss her, but joy, too, because she's with Jesus. I was her ESL teacher when she came from Cuba and took classes at Bassick in the evening. She was an excellent mom, student and teacher. Give God the glory for her life.

Hello Gloria, Armando, and Moises,
My name is Mildred Memoli or Mrs. Laracuente as your mother first met me.
I just want you to know how important your mom has been in my life. She is
the greatest person I have ever met. I taught with her at Elias Howe
School for 30 years. I loved her teaching and her classroom so much that
when I was in college, I would spend the whole month of January during
the winter intersession in her class volunteering. When I graduated from
college, I got a job across from her room. I learned how to teach my
students spanish reading with her guidance. She was my ultimate mentor.
I still use her teaching strategies til this day. I looked up to her so
much for her patience, guidance, and most of all her friendship through
the years. I nominated her for teacher of the year with letters sent
out. All of you should feel proud and blessed to have such a great
mom. Just like I feel to have known her in my life. She will always be
in my heart.
Love,
Mildred Memoli
Elias Howe School

When I arrived at Elias Howe I was the baby. I was fresh out of school and terrified. You were always so encouraging and uplifting. You made me feel like my life had a purpose and a meaning. You called me your baby and I called you my love. It was an honor and a privilege to work with you and to be your friend. I love you more than I can articulate and look forward to seeing you again in heaven. I love you. Go in peace.

We are so saddened to hear of Ruth's passing on to be with the Lord. We met her at the Stratford Baldwin Senior Center's Italian classes and considered her to be a loving friend right from the first meeting. She always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Her life stories were inspiring to all of us. We will miss her greatly.

Your mother was my 1st grade teacher back in 1979. I still have a photo that was taken of us together at Elias Howe that I will always cherish. She poured so much love into me. She encouraged me to learn English and later urged my mother to have me test into Multicultural Magnet. She opened a door of opportunity for me that has continually been multiplied. Today, I am 39 yrs old and a former HS teacher now working on my post graduate degrees. She encouraged this "Bridgeport girl" to reach for the stars. Her bear hugs were awesome!! Unfortunately, I am unable to make the trip to CT from NJ tomorrow but I wanted you to know that the impact your mom had on my life was great. I am truly sorry for your loss and will keep your family in my prayers during this difficult time.
