I want to pass on my belated condolences to the family of Melvin Gordils. Melvin was my personal trainer for a number of years. He worked at LA Fitness and the gym would lighten up when he walked in. He would whistle and sing, and shout and the whole place had a more positive vibe when he was there. He pushed me so hard and I loved it. We shared a lot and he became a good friend. The day he left the gym was a sad day for me and the gym was never the same. We had kept in touch but not over the summer and I only found out of his passing today, Thanksgiving, when I texted him to wish him well. I can only imagine how tough it is particularly today. He must have made you so proud. He truly was a very, very special person.

I would like to send my condolences to the family of Melvin Gordils. Melvin was only in a couple of my classes at Sacred Heart University, but once he entered the room, the atmosphere instantly glistened. Melvin was such a positive young man, who could brighten anyone's day up. My favorite memory of Melvin took place after class one afternoon. It was this past semester and he was leaving the Cambridge parking lot. I was heading out to my car and I could see Melvin driving with his windows down. As I listen, I could hear Carlos Santana rocking out as Melvin has the biggest smile on his face. I instantly had the biggest grin on my face, and this small act that Melvin had no idea was happening, made my day. This young man was not only a smart, intelligent gentlemen, but rather a genuinely great human being that this world needs to see more of. RIP Melvin, you will be missed.

My sincere sympathy to Melvin's parents and family. I only heard of his tragic passing today and am in shock. Melvin was my first personal trainer and his amazing spirit and beauty and wisdom were a complete inspiration to me. He was an awesome young man and I give you all credit for making him so special. He touched my life by teaching me to believe in my strength and abilities and I will absolutely never ever forget him. He made a difference in my life that has made me stronger, physically and mentally. I cannot believe I don't have the chance to thank him personally. I am asking God and the Universe to bring you strength and healing and to realize that in his short life he became a powerful man who touched many others with his gifts, I share your sadness and will miss him.

I am in shock at this time. Mello has been coming to my open mic for almost 2 years now. I love his spirit, his character and the type of person he was. He had words that would make you smile. My heart goes out to you his family and friends. I know no words can describe what you're going through. I really loved this young man and wish there were a lot more like him around. My deepest condolences go to Melvin’s family and friends whom he loved.
Melvin was a student of mine in my Statistics class at Housatonic Community College. I hired him in my office of Institutional Research soon after he finished my course. He tutored subsequent students in my classes. He came to HCC as a teenager and grew into an intelligent and articulate man. He represented HCC with honor. We will always be very proud of him.

I was Melvin's teacher at Dunbar School in the Talented and Gifted Program. Every once in a while a student enters your class that a teacher knows is special and you just enjoy the time you have with that student because you know they're one of a kind. Melvin was that kind of student! Melvin was a gifted student but he was also a kind, generous, thoughtful and loving friend to all his classmates. His enthusiasm for learning was contagious and he was always eager to participate in all class activities and discussions. The students of that particular class developed a bond that continues to this day and Melvin was the special person who helped to keep these friendships together. A few years ago Melvin surprised me when he unexpectedly visited me at the school where I was principal. I was so pleased to see the confident and accomplished young man he had become. We talked at length about his goals, ambitions and future plans. I treasure that day and I will keep the memory of his radiant smile and loving personality in my heart always. My love and prayers go out to Melvin's mother, father and his entire family.

You never know how Much you care for a person until something like this happens. I didn't realize until that very moment when I heard your mom's cries for you - exactly how important you were to me! My heart goes out to the family and friends of a great man, Melvin. I went to school with him and no matter what, he would do his best to put a smile on everyone's face. His smile and his laugh was contagious. He was a great man with such a kind heart. He loved life and everyone who was in his. He was so passionate about everything he does and you could see that just by how he talks. He will be extremely missed by me and the entire Sacred Heart University Community.
