Obituary of Melvin Gordils

Melvin "Machito" Gordils, age 26 of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly early Saturday, May 28, 2016 in Waterbury. He was the beloved son of Melvin Gordils and Carmen Oquendo. Melvin was born and raised in Bridgeport, and was currently attending Sacred Heart University, on track to graduate in 2017 with a degree in Physical Therapy. Machito, a personal trainer, was very passionate about exercise and was also a very talented writer, poet and rapper, who lent his time volunteering at nursing homes. Melvin will be remembered most by his outgoing and kind personality; a quality that made people love him instantly. He is loving brother of Irma, Nivia, Gabriel, and Yael Gordils; the adored grandson of Ricarda Ramos and Luz Maria Mendez; and the nephew of Ada Oquendo, Enid Gordils, and Juan Oquendo. He is also survived by many other friends and other family members who will sorely miss him. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport from 5 pm to 9 pm. Friends are invited on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. to a Mass of Christian Burial DIRECTLY at St. Mary Church, 25 Sherman St, Bridgeport, CT 06608. His burial will follow at Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
