Obituary of Joao Gouveia

Gouveia-Joao “Johnny” Gouveia, age 38, of Hamden, CT, died unexpectedly in an automobile accident on Saturday morning, March 21, 2009. He was born in South Africa and he was raised in Bridgeport. He loved New Haven and enjoyed many years living there. He graduated from Bullard Havens High School in Bridgeport in 1989. He was the beloved son of Eduardo and Ines Gouveia of Bridgeport. He was always a hard worker and will be missed by his co-workers at Starbucks and Club 24. He enjoyed cooking; He was an avid New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan. A caring and loving person, with a wonderful sense of humor; his smile was infectious! His inner strength has been an inspiration to his whole family! He was loved by everyone who knew him! The great comic who always got a person to laugh and smile. His nephews and nieces brought happiness to his heart, and they will forever love their Uncle Johnny. In addition to his parents Eduardo and Ines Gouveia of Bridgeport he is survived by his brother and sister in law, Umberto & Susan Gouveia, nephew and niece, Michael & Alyssa Gouveia of Trumbull; His sister and Brother in Law, Maria and Victor Padilla, niece and nephew, Miranda and Shawn Padilla of Bristol; His sister and brother in Law, Teresa and Joseph Klonis, nephew, Joey Klonis of Woodbury; his sister and brother in law Lucy and Jon Stevens, Nephew Nathan Stevens of Hamden. Beloved godfather who will always be remembered by Alyssa. He was also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, many overseas, that will miss his laugh and wonderful sense of humor. Everyone that knew him, including many dear friends, will always keep him forever in their hearts and will always love him. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, beginning at 9:00 A.M. At the Funeraria Luz de Paz ( Peaceful Light Funeral Home ), 426 East Washington Ave., Bridgeport followed by a Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT. Friends are also invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. At the funeral Home.
