Obituary of Belen Diaz

Belen Diaz, age 83, of Daniel Drive, Bridgeport entered into rest surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the wife of Rafael Diaz. Belen was born in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Jose Rodriguez Bernard and the late Filomena Lopez Morales. In 1951, she came to Bridgeport to build a life with her of husband Rafael Diaz ( whom she married in 1948) and family. She worked at Lacey Manufacturing until 1988. In addition to crocheting, Belen especially loved to cook incredible meals and entertain guests and family. In addition tto being survived by her husband, She is the beloved mother of seven children, Hector Diaz of Puerto Rico, Victor M. Diaz and his wife Lori of Seymour, Edna E. Cruz and her husband Agapito of Oxford, Neida Robles of Bridgeport, Maria Diaz Baer of Bridgeport, Sarah Silano and her husband Ralph of Bridgeport, and Yvette Pelloquin and her husband Chris of Maryland. She also leaves ten cherished grandchildren, Natalie Falcon and her husband, Eddie, Nikki Cruz and her husband Ferdinand, Danielle Robles, Joseph Diaz, Carla Diaz, David Baer, Jacqueline Silano, Bridgette Baer, Brittany Baer and Michael Silano; and three loving great-grandchildren, Heriberto, Matthew and Angel Falcon. She was predeceased by eight siblings and one grandchild, Michael Sean Diaz. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Funeraria Luz de Paz ( la funeraria de NUESTRA Comunidad), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport. Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday beginning at 8:30 A.M. At the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church at 9:30 A.M., Fairfield, CT; Interment will take place in Mt.
