Obituary of Miguel Cruz

Miguel Cruz, age 88, of Bridgeport, devoted husband of Elizabeth Cruz, entered into the eternal presence of the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2007. Miguel expressed his abundant love for God and his community as a religious education teacher and deacon for over 60 years. He was a dedicated father, loving and caring grandfather, and an outstanding friend to his fellow brothers and sisters. Miguel was a member of the Christian Revival Church and also the Good Shepherd Christian Church for over 35 yers, in Bridgeport. Miguel served in the armed forces and is a decorated World War II veteran. Miguel is a retired employee of the Public Works Department, in the City of Bridgeport. Miguel is survived by his longtime wife of 62 years Elizabeth Cruz; sons Miguel Cruz and his wife Elva of Bridgeport, Jose Cruz and his wife Rosa of Shelton; and daughter Damaris Perez of Bridgeport; sisters Adela Rivera of Vineland, NJ, Mercedes Santiago of Pennsylvania, Pura Rodriguez of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and Maria Santiago of Utuado Puerto Rico; grandchildren Franky, Maribell, Miguel III, Jose M., and Matthew; Miguel also leaves to cherish 6 beautiful great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly. Miguel was predeceased by his son, Ruben Cruz; brothers Gonzalo, Marcelino, and Manolo Cruz; sisters, Rosa and Celin Cruz; and son-in-law, Rev. Francisco Perez husband of Damaris Perez. Funeral arrangements for Miguel Cruz have been entrusted to the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport. CT. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will take place DIRECTLY at the Christian Revival Church at 441 Bishop Avenue, in Bridgeport with services commencing at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, in Fairfield.
