Obituary of Manuel Alicea

Alicea Manuel Alicea, age 83, of Bridgeport entered into peaceful rest on Monday, June 19, 2006 at his home with his loving family by his side. He is the son of the late Santana Alicea and the late Josefa Tosado. He is a native of Camuy, Puerto Rico but moved to Bridgeport in 1953. Manuel was known by many as “El Maestro” of dominoes, as it was his favorite pass time. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Manuel was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, in Bridgeport, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and a cursillista. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 57 years Maria Alicea; his sons Manuel Alicea Jr. and his wife Patty, William Alicea and his wife Lucy, Edwin Alicea and his wife Elisa, Jose Alicea and his wife Elsie; his daughters Maria Rodriguez and husband Jose, Olga Alicea, Esther Vega and husband Benjamin, and Maritza Alicea, all of Bridgeport, and Ana Gonzalez and husband Antonio, of Derby; fifteen grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. He is prepdeceased by his two sons Luis Alicea and Kenny Alicea. Calling hours for Manuel Alicea will take place on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, June 22, 2006 beginning at 8A.M. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00A.M. at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
