Obituary of Benedicta Diaz Cintron

On January 18, 1924 in Barrio Anoñes, Naranjito, Puerto Rico Benedicta "Benny" Diaz Cintron was born to Jose Ramon Diaz and Manuela Rivera. She had dreams of becoming a teacher but gave up her dreams to help raise her siblings when their father died. She was a devoted and loving wife for 58 years to Rafael Cintron and a dedicated and loving mother to Maria Cintron- Ellis (Ron) and Raquel Figueroa- Heath (John). She leaves her grandchildren whom she adored Meghann (Cameron), Jr. Raquel, Jazmin and Jordan. She was an original member of "La Guadalupe" on East Main Street before it became St. Mary's Church. She was a faithful servant to God. She was co-owner of La Boriqueña Grocery in the east side in the 60's and never lost her love for her East Side. Mami's lifelong friends; Carmen y Pedro, Petra y Francisco, Irene y Len and Marianita y Victor meant the world to her. Mami so enjoyed and loved her neighbors Anna, Joe, Faye, Herbie and Kay. Benny had a strong love of family. She is predeceased by her brother, Gregorio and sisters Emelia and Maria Elisa. She leaves her brothers Ramon and Rafael and sisters Gloria, Josephine and Maria Delores. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 6- 9 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2014 beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral home followed by a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
