Obituary of Phulmanya Bhagaloo

Phulmanya Bhagaloo, (AKA Philomena) age 79, currently of Stratford, died Sunday, November 24, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital. She was born October 8, 1934 in Trinidad, West Indies but had relocated to the United States in 1990 where she began to work as a CNA until her retirement 10 years ago. She is the widow of the Late Nanan Gopaul and the late Panchoo Ramesar. She was widowed at a very young age with 7 children at the time; She worked non-stop to support her family by operating a grocery store, poultry business and a small farm. Because of her tireless hard work, all of her children had the opportunity to obtain good education and gain opportunities made possible by someone (Mom) who did not have an opportunity to go to school. She is survived by her daughters Radica Ramsulbhag (Waidnath), Gita Capasso (Michael), Marilyn Mahabir (Roopdeo), Leila Ramnarine, Doodoo Mohan, Pinky Gopaul and Indra Harbhajan (Tony); her sons Harry Gopaul (Dotta) and Carl Gopaul; She was grandmother to Ramjattans, Mahabirs, Ramsubhags, Mohans, Gopauls, & Ramnarines; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will sorely miss her. She was predeceased by her children the late Ramlal Gopaul and the late Samlal Gopaul. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport; A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Stratford, CT at 1:00 P.M.
