Obituary of Heriberto Flores

Heriberto "Bertin" M. Flores, age 75, of Bridgeport, CT beloved husband of Luz Flores of 34 years entered into eternal life with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2013, at St. Vincent's Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Flores was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and moved to Bridgeport, CT over 55 years ago. He was the son of the late Antonio Flores and Juana Ocasio. Bertin was known for his strong character that was admired by many as he wasn't afraid of speaking his mind. He loved playing lotto daily. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, loved cooking his Puerto Rican dishes, enjoyed watching Western movies on AMC and always looked forward to eating "pan sobao". He found comfort with his pet birds and fish. Bertin enjoyed playing his "guiro" to Puerto Rican folk songs or merengue during the holidays. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing clams at Seaside Park. He is survived by his loving and caring children Heriberto Flores, Jr., Jimmy Rosado, Alberto Medina (Ana), Diana Figueroa, Ivette Hernandez (Samuel), Griselle White (Christopher), Sonia Vargas (Rafael) , and Luz Zaida Rodriguez (Heriberto). He is also survived by nineteen loving grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who loved calling him "Wito". He is survived by his siblings Miguel, Aida, Margaret, Teresa, Isabel, Maria, Mercedes and Pedro. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Antonio, Juana, Victor and Jose. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 7-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Funeral Services have been schedule for Friday, June 14, 2013 beginning at 9 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, immediately followed by Interment at Park Cemetery.
