Obituary of Virginia Patron

Virginia Patron, age 92, currently of Bridgeport, passed away into the peaceful rest of the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2013 in Maefair Nursing Home,Trumbull, CT. Virginia was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Valereano Diaz and the late Eladia Santiago, but had relocated to the Bridgeport Area in 1951 with her children. She was a vivacious caring woman who loved her family, the community, and the memories of the island of Puerto Rico. Virginia had been recognized for her labor and dedication from several agencies including the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County whom distinguish her with the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year Award. She was selected as the Senior Ringmaster for the Barnum Parade. Virginia was also a foster Grandparent for the Child Guidance Center Program. She will always be remembered for having the sweetest smile and being a proficient volunteer. After working for years at Bryant Electric, she retired and began working at S.A.D.A. and also became well known as a Stanley Product demonstrator. The family always had fun speaking about how she had the ability to sell her brooms and home care products to whomever she came across. She is survived by her children Ana Ortiz and her husband Frank Ortiz, Jenny Morales and her husband Rogelio Morales, Rafael Cotto, and Modesto "Tito" Cotto; Her sisters Maria Isabel Torres, Santa Diaz, Petra "Tonita" Fernandez, and Bernadita Colon; Her 13 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great Grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. Virginia was truly a gem and will be truly missed by all. She is Predeceased by her daughter Maria Antonia Agosto, her brothers Avelino Santiago, and Pepe Diaz; her sister Josefa Diaz. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 7-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport;Funeral Services have been schedule for Friday, January 11,2013 Beginning at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 A.M. followed by Interment at St. Michael's Cemetery.
