Monserrate Velez Rivera

Obituary of Monserrate Velez Rivera

Monserrate Velez Rivera "Taty", age 78, currently of Bridgeport but a native of San German, Puerto Rico has passed into the Mighty Presence of the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Bridgeport Hospital while surrounded by her loving family; Monserrate lived in Bayamon, Puerto Rico for many years but had most recently relocated to the Bridgeport area as this would bring her to being closer to her Children, grandchildren and their respective families whom she adored. Monserrate was not a woman of many words, but yet one of action who sought the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul and when she had a chance would encourage anyone in her way to seek God and his kingdom because she knew that only Jesus was the way, the truth and the life. For Monserrate, knowing wasn't enough. Therefore, she would share the Good news to anyone she could and her calm demeanor and passive personality would allow her to get beyond the barriers many have tall and high. These barriers could not be strong enough for her to show them that the love of God can overcome every barrier, every situation and will forever be strong enough to help fight your battles every day of your life. About ten years ago, her heart was broken as she lost her husband of many years, the late Juan De la Cruz Delgado, but did not stop her from understanding and trusting God's great love for her and her family. She understood the love of Christ was unconditional and would never leave her of forsake her or her family. For those who knew Monserrate, many would graciously call her "Taty"; she had a subtle demeanor and graciously moved about her daily life enjoying and investing her energy into each day learning more and more of Christ and expanding each day her relationship with the almighty and always wanted to make sure her family never stray afar from His Presence. Taty is survived by her sons Juan Delgado (Nora), Ivan Delgado (Carmin) and Hiram Delgado (Natalia Valencia); her grandchildren Edwin Delgado (Laura), Isamarie Delgado, David Delgado (Carol), and Leslie Delgado (Luis); her great grandchildren Eleyna Delgado, Eliany Delgado, Noah Delgado, Aron Delgado, Jayden Roque, Aziyah Hernandez, Lucas Roque and Camila Roque; and many other relatives and friends whom will sorely miss her. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 beginning at 6:00 P.M. until the end of the Service at the Christian Revival Church, 441 Bishop Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06610. Monserrate will then be sent to Puerto Rico where she will be viewed in her home church in Bayamon, Puerto Rico then taken to Lajas, Puerto Rico where she will be laid to rest until the Great day that we meet again in the Clouds when that trumpet sounds. Yes we know that day is near so goodbye is not a phrase that could describe the temporary separation our hearts will experience, yet see you soon seems more of a phrase that would describe what will come to pass, as the Trumpet of God will sound and the dead in Christ will resurrect from their graves and we will all meet in the clouds. Our faith assures that promise, and know it is the truth as it came from the way the truth and the life, Jesus Christ.
