Obituary of Carlos Batres Retana

Carlos Francisco Batres Retana, age 76 most recently of Bridgeport, returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord on Monday, November 11, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by love. He is the beloved husband of Marina Clara Isabel Leiva de Batres. Carlos was born in El Salvador, son of the late Pablo Batres and Ricarda Retana.

He will be remembered as a welcoming and charismatic man, who loved listening to Church music very loud. Carlos loved working with the land, whether it be through farming or planting trees. Most of all, he cherished his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.

In recent years, Carlos was consistently going back and forth between his beloved home of El Salvador and the USA, prior to deciding to stay in the Bridgeport area due to his deteriorating health.

Surviving are son, Alex Batres of Stratford, CT, daughter, Marina Cisneros of Bridgeport, CT, son, Carlos A. Batres, son, Pablo D. Batres, son, Jose D. Batres, daughter, Mirna De Gutierrez, daughter, Floridalma Batres, daughter, Irma Batres, Grandchild, 11, great-grandchildren, 2.

Friends and family are invited to attend Calling Hours on Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, 10 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. George's Parish, 443 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604. His Final Disposition will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
