Ramona Rivera

Obituary of Ramona Rivera

Ramona Rivera, age 88 of Bridgeport, CT returned peacefully to the Loving Arms of the Lord early morning Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico; daughter of the late Manuel Santos and Cristina Rodriguez.

Ramona, or “Wela” as she was fondly known by her grandchildren, was truly the example of an angel on earth. Ramona was strong-willed and incredibly independent. She never complained and always put others needs before her own, especially her family's. She was hilariously sarcastic, yet always loving and caring. She was known for her love of angels, sewing skills and famous rice and beans. Ramona was a fashionista during her time, always wearing coordinating outfits. She loved music, crossword puzzles and catalogue shopping. She passed the time by watching her novellas and television game shows; and enjoyed going to "The Palace" where she socialized and perfected her arts and crafts. Ramona had a giving nature, found in few; and will be missed most for the unconditional love she gave to all.

She was the loving mother of Migdalia Rivera, Robert Rivera, Elizabeth Rivera, and the late Marcos “Michael” Rivera; the caring sister of Teresa, Hector, Angel, Eloy, and the late Manuel, Felx, Natividad “Naty”, Miguel Angel and Magda; the adoring grandmother of Joel Velez, Melyssa Velez, Cyanne Stanley, Shayna Stanley, Jessica Rivera, and Breanna Rivera; the great grandmother to five, as well as, a host of other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Tuesday, October 1 st from 4:30pm to 6 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. Her final disposition will take place privately and at the convenience of her family.
