Obituary of Luz Hernandez

Luz Maria Hernandez, age 92, returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at her Bridgeport Residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Gilberto Hernandez; her husband of over 50 years.

Luz was a true homebody, who loved caring for her home and cooking for her family. She loved knitting and crocheting; her word search books, and watching her novellas. Luz enjoyed spending time with her family, especially through babysitting her grandchildren.

She is the loving mother of Mirta Lopez, Willdaisy Hernandez, Alexis Hernandez, Antonio Hernandez, Wilda Hernandez and Maria E. Hernandez; the grandmother of 18 and the great-grandmother of 24; and the great-great-grandmother of 18.

She was predeceased by her son, Gilberto Hernandez. 

Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Monday, September 30, 2019, from 10 a.m. 12:30 p.m. at Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at St. Peter Church. Her interment will be held at Mt. Grove Cemetery, 215 Dewey St. Bridgeport, CT 06605.
