Obituary of Mabel Grafals

Mabel Yolanda Grafals, age 61 of Ansonia, returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord suddenly on Sunday, September 15, 2019. She was born in Isabella, Puerto Rico; daughter of Consuelo Cubero and Elddies Grafals prior to relocating to Connecticut many years ago. She was a very social woman, who was not short of friends. Mabel always put others first and had an "open door policy" where everyone was always welcome. She loved to travel, especially to Atlanta, GA. She adored pets, especially her cats and would often joke that she was a "crazy cat lady." Mabel is the loving mother of Elizabeth Cubero Sterling, Gilberto Sosa, Jr., and Javier Figueroa, Sr.; the stepmother of Clarissa, Brittany, and Amber Ruffin; the adoring grandmother of Javier Figueroa, Jr., Zhandra Elizabeth Graham, Lourdes Figueroa, Jeremiah Stewart, Isabella Menillo, Chloe Victoria Sterling, Gulianna Figueroa, and Angelino Figueroa; the great grandmother of Lorenzo Figueroa de Oliveira; and the caring sister of Sol Maria Ocasio, Marta Maria Acevedo, Nilsa Grafals, Wilsa Maisonave, Alberto Roman, Wilson Grafals, Evelyn Grafals, Nereida Grafals, Elvis Grafals, Elston Grafals. Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2019 at the funeral home. Her interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
