Obituary of Basiliso Alicea

Basiliso Alicea, age 87 of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at St. Raphael's Hospital. He is the beloved companion of Antonia Maldonado; his partner of 58 years. Basiliso was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico and later went on to proudly serve in the Korean War with US Army prior to relocating to the Bridgeport area.

He absolutely loved music, whether it was playing the guitar or singing. He will be remembered as a hardworking man, who was an amazing provider and father. Basiliso liked to cook and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Parents Names: Antonia Colon and

He is the loving father of Hector Alicea, Nilda Alicea, Gladys Alicea, Jeraldo Alicea, Mirta Alicea, Luis Alicea, Anamaris Alicea, Migdalia Alicea, and Edgardo Alicea; stepfather of Miguel Sotomayor; and the grandfather of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Antonia Colon; children William Alicea, Enrique Alicea, Basilio Alicea, and Edwin Alicea; and stepdaughter Ivette Sotomayor.

Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608.
