Obituary of Janice S. Osakowicz

Janice Sophia Osakowicz, age 67, entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, July 5, 2019, at St. Raphael's Hospital, New Haven. She was the born in Poland, daughter of Michalina Osakowicz prior to relocating to the United States many years ago.

Janice will be remembered as a strong, funny and kind-hearted woman, who was always willing to help anyone. She always had a smile, regardless of whatever was going on in her life. Janice was a true "fashionista" - always making sure her hair, outfit and especially her nails were looking good. She loved watching daytime television talk shows and collecting stuffed animals - all of which she would name. Janice's family will remember her as truly amazing mother who was brutally honest, terrible with names, but always full of unconditional and everlasting love.

Janice is the loving mother of Lucy (Victor) Santos, Johnny Castro, Peggy (Pete) Muniz, Louis A. Castro, III., Luis A. Castro, Jr., Marco Castro, Sr.; the grandmother of Eddie Colon, Ciera "Sarah" Muniz, Noel Muniz, Kaitlyn Castro, and Kayla Castro; and the great-grandmother of Ryleigh Colon. She is also survived her former spouse and dear friend Luis A. Castro, Sr. and by many other beloved family members and friends that will sorely miss her.

Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. Her funeral service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the funeral home. Her interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608.
