Obituary of Isidra Santiago

Isidra Santiago Roldan, 83, departed peacefully and went home to the Lord on May 22, 2019.  

She was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on May 15, 1936, the daughter of Eusebio Roldan and Lucia Pedraza, who preceded her in death, along with her sisters Sara Diaz and Maximina Roldan. She is also preceded by her husband, Alejandro Santiago.

She is survived by her children, stepson Alexander Santiago, Jr., and daughters Wanda Martinez and Yvonne Rodgers.  Her surviving family also includes sisters Margarita Roldan, Celestina Roldan, Ana Maria Roldan, and her brothers Victor Roldan and Evaristo “Varo” Roldan.

 Her grandchildren will lovingly remember their Abila including Khelan, Alexandra, Mikey, and Max Rodgers and Isaiah and Sammy Martinez.  Many more beloved family members include all of her nieces and nephews.

Isidra was a long-time Bridgeport, Connecticut resident following her 1965 marriage to Alejandro in the Bronx, NY.  She enjoyed being a longtime member of Iglesia de Cristo, A/D on Hamilton Street where she was a beloved elder and mentor with a beautiful voice she used unceasingly to praise God.  She will be remembered for her work in the church’s cooking ministry where her specialties never failed to please.

She retired at 67 years old after a long working career that mainly included over 20 years with Sodexho at Fairfield University.  She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, reading, and always had a song on her lips and a joke to make.  She lived her life in service to the Lord and she was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Monday, May 27, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, 2019, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Her interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
