Obituary of Maria Emilia Cuevas

Maria Emilia Cuevas, age 64, beloved daughter of the late Emilio Ortiz and Maria Ortiz of Bridgeport has passed away into the peaceful rest of The Lord on April 17, 2019 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT;  Maria was born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico but had relocated to the Bridgeport area as a baby and has resided here since; She is the beloved wife of Peter Perez;  Maria had a  Heart of gold, and was always eager to serve all the customers as they would visit the bank where she was employed for many years. She Loved the island she was born on of Puerto Rico where she enjoyed countless vacations and enjoyed breathtaking views on the beach.  For many years Maria Supported the March of Dimes and loved collecting items for St. Agustine's soup kitchen to hellp those less fortunate.  She also enjoyed many nights at the casino with her husband enjoying some nice slot machine therapy; Finally we share her love of  collecting Frogs as they reminded her of the sounds from the island's coqui.She will be sadly missed by all; 

Besides her mother and husband, Maria is survived by her daughter Michelle Cuevas and Danielle Rodriguez;  Her siblings, Emilio Ortiz, Jose Ortiz, Rafael Ortiz, Susy Ortiz &  Michael Ortiz; her grandchildren Justyn Basilicato, Jonah Basilicato and Isaiah Rodriguez; and a host of other relatives and friends whom will dearly miss her; She was predeceased by her brother the late Jimmy Ortiz

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 9-11:30 A.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington AVenue, Bridgeport, CT;  Funeral service will take place at 11:30 A.M in the funeral home followed by interment in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield, CT;
