Obituary of Deborah Ann Thompson
On Friday, March 15, 2019, Deborah Ann Henderson-Thompson, loving Mother and Daughter, passed away peacefully at her home in Bridgeport, Connecticut at the age 67. Deborah was born on January 6, 1952 in Washington, DC however she been a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Connecticutand known affectionately as “Debbie” to family and friends. Debbie was predeceased by her late Mother, Ann M. Henderson, and her Father, Charles Henderson. Debbie married in 1970 to Calvin Thompson, who is deceased. She is survived by their only child, Calvin A. Thompson and his spouse, Juana Santiago Thompson; and her brother, Charles Henderson and numerous cousins as well as extended family and friends.
Deborah graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut and pursued collegiate standing with receiving an Associate Degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. Debbie spent many years within the Retail Banking Industry being under the employ of varies financial institutions. Over the years, Debbie ascended to many Lead Roles in the organizations of employ as well receiving numerous Awards and Acknowledgement for being an Outstanding Contributor. As with many of us, as we weave through the complexity of life, Debbie experienced various health challenges that would have broken many others. However, Debbie, continuing to find ways to make meaningful and impactful contributions in the lives of those she encountered. This impact, none more profound, with being a Cancer Survivor and reaching the pivotal milestone of more than 5 years removed from that first event of being classified as “cancer free.”
Debbie lived a full life that experienced, both, challenges and happiness. Debbie understood that everyone is handed adversity in life and its not an easy journey however our approach to handling the adversity is what makes us unique. One thing, for certain, Debbie, was unique and will be truly missed by family and friends.
Friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Friday, March 22, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home,) 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.
Her interment will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2019, DIRECTLY at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06610.
A Memorial Service will follow her interment at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 160 Hill Farm Rd., Fairfield, CT 06824.
Reception will immediately follow her Memorial Service to fellowship with the family and friends at 12:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 160 Hill Farm Rd., Fairfield, CT 06824.
