My name is Diane DiStefano (Mrs. D.) Ezequiel was one of my first students at Multicultural Magnet (MCM). He was such a caring and intelligent young man. Ezequiel was loved by all. Later in life, when he would see me at City Hall, he would greet me with his contagious and enthusiatic smile while saying our long standing MCM school slogan, "Different is Dynamite!"
He wiil be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ezequiel was a dedicated and sincere advocate for all students, and for the City of Bridgeport. My prayers and loving thoughts go out to his family and friends on their unexplainable grief. He will be in our hearts and thoughts forever.

My deep condolences to the family. I met Ezequiel only one or two times, through my former position at Southwestern AHEC (Area Health Education Center). He was so obviously a friend to anyone in need of good health and dental care, and an active supporter of the work AHEC did in the community, as he has certainly been with my current employer (Southwest Community Health Center). Not many accomplish so much in such an unfortunately short lifetime.

It was my luck to have worked with Rep. Santiago on legislation regarding CHRO an other matters. Having worked in or with the legislature since 1981 Chequi was one of the finer legislators, out of hundreds, that I recall. He was studious, reasoned, cooperative and a quiet leader. We need many more of his caliber and it is a shame for the state that we lost him.

I was lucky enough to have served with Ezequil during my last two years as State Representative and the first term of Ezequil. He was a very smart, polite, kind, caring and thoughtful young man. I was impressed. I was in the leadership at the time and he was seating a few seats behind me and would always smile and wave. Many times, in a humble manner, he would ask my opinion on legislation. I told him, at times, we need nice young people like you in the chamber to bring a different and youthful perspective.

I will miss you dearly and all of our time together will never be forgotten. You were a leading example of a true friend and brother. We grew up tough on the West Side of Bridgeport and experienced many memories together. I last saw you in Hartford by coincidence at the Red Rock Tavern and it was one of the most memorable times I will cherish and never forget. I'm happy I was able to have one last toast with you before your passing. You are leaving us on a high note in true Chequi fashion. I'm going to miss you my brother and I will always love you and cherish our times together. God blessed you Chequi and you and your family will always be in my prayers.
