Obituary of Unice Raiford Jones

Unice Bessie Raiford Jones, age 75, of Stratford passed away peacefully Friday, January 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Unice was a beloved daughter, a loving mother, and a thoughtful and generous grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment with them. Unice was born March 9, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Ulious Raiford and Georgianna Gregory Raiford. She matriculated in the Bridgeport Public School System and was employed as a Certified Home Health Aide. As an Aide, she maintained the highest of standards and compassion caring for Alzheimer and Hospice patients. She enjoyed crafting, pottery, Sci-Fi movies and listening to Gospel music. Unice was the family historian, she collected and shared precious family photos that spanned more than five generations. She looked forward to visits from her family and friends. Unice is survived by her sons Henry Jones and Raymond Jones; daughters Donna Jones and Tammie Jones; brother Ulious Raiford Jr; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Raiford; a sister, Mary Ann Raiford Green; a son, Roger Jones; and one granddaughter, Rogerlyna Jones. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, January 13, 2018, beginning at 10:00 A.M at Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank Street, Bridgeport. Followed by committal service at Mt. Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Luz de Paz Funeral Home
