Obituary of Elena Rivera

Elena Rivera, age 89 , passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico to the late Ulpiano Rivera and the late Ventura Nazario. Elena loved her family above all, especially hosting family dinners. She was also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She is survived by her children Priscilla Figueroa of Lancaster, Nilda Figueroa of Lancaster, Rafael (Monica) Figueroa of Lancaster; Raquel (Richard) Cerilli of Pittsburgh, Rosanne (Reginald) Huffman of Naugatuck, Albert (Wendy) Figueroa of West Haven, Richard Figueroa (Bart) of Los Angeles, and Sonia (Scott) Dudas of Farmington; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; five nieces (Nilda, Esther, Anita, Sandra and O'Nilda); a nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends whom will dearly miss her. In addition to her parents she is also predeceased by her husband Rafael Figueroa and sons Ruben and Robert Figueroa. Friends may attend calling hours on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
