Obituary of Roger Lee Jones, Jr.

Roger Lee Jones, Jr., age 53, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born in Bridgeport, CT to Unice Raiford Jones of Stratford and the late Roger Lee Jones. He has resided in Stratford for over forty years. Attended Johnson Junior High school and Stratford High school. In his earlier years he was a DJ for various block and community centers, he also held a position as the maintenance custodian at Sacred Heart University. Prior to becoming disabled he had numerous professions over the years, but none brought him more joy than working on motorcycles. As his hobbies he enjoyed motorcycle riding, music, movies, cooking, and specially enjoyed grilling during the summer. In addition to his mother he is also survived by his children, Roaxanne Jones, Raquel Jones, Roger Lee Jones III, Shawn Jones, and Charlene Gardner; his six grandchildren that he considered his life's joy; his siblings Donna Jones, Tammie Jones, Raymond Jones, and Henry Jones; five nieces; three nephews; five great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends that will sorely miss him. In addition to his father he is also predeceased by his daughter Rogerlyna Jones. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Final Disposition will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
