Obituary of Luis Lopez

Luis "Pololo" "Chi Chi" Lopez, age 81 of Bridgeport, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday. August 22, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. In his early days he played for the Telelo Vargas League, in Father Panik Village he started playing baseball in the Polo ground. He was one of the first Hispanics in little league and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Borinquen Softball League. In 2014 Bridgeport honored him by declaring October 18 the Luis Lopez Day. He was the beloved companion of Irma S. Fernandez; his faithful companion of 28 years. He is the caring father of Edwin Lopez, Minerva Watson, Sonia Lopez, Margarita Lopez, Junior Difre, Wilfredo Difre, Edgardo Difre, Letty Cruz, and Jessica Rivera. His sister Iris Lopez; He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends whom will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his sons Luis Lopez, Jr. and Freddy Lopez. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 6-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport. CT. Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2015 beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home for a Service of Christian burial. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
