Obituary of Etervina Pina

Pina-Etervina Pina, age 83 of Trumbull, CT, beloved widow of the Late Pedro J. Pina Sr. entered into Peaceful and eternal life with the Lord on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Jewish Home for the elderly. She was the daughter of the late Serafina and Miguel Torres of Puerto Rico; Etervina was born and raised in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Her family moved to Caguas, Puerto Rico where she met and married her love, Pedro, on October 18, 1942. The moved to New York in 1946 and in 1959 relocated to Bridgeport. Telba, as she was lovingly called by her siblings, served the Lord faithfully for more than 40 years. She was a graduate and later a teacher of the Latin American Council of New York’s Bible Institute. Etervina was a Vice-President of the Latin American Council’s Ladies Auxiliary for New England. She cherished the time she assisted her sister, Elouisa as a Missionary in Tucatan, Mexico. Etervina was a faithful member of the Rock of Horeb Chaurch and later a member of the 2nd house of Prayer Church in Bridgeport; Upon their retirement Etervina and Pedro relocated to the Springhill, Florida. She was a much-loved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. Etervina is survived by her beloved son Carlos Pina and his wife Gertrude of Florida, her dear daughter Jessie Negron and her husband Ramon of Trumbull, and grandson who they raised and loved as a son, Pedro J. Pina III of Florida. She is also survived by sisters Maria Isabel Torres of New York, Carmen Delia Rosado of Florida, Theresa Sanchez of Puerto Rico and a brother Miguel Torres of Florida. 15 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son Pedro J. Pina, Jr. of Bridgeport, her sisters Gloria Torres, Ana Luisa Rosado of Puerto Rico, her brother Felix Rodriguez of Bridgeport and her sister Eloisa Fagundo of Florida; Mother, your kindness, love and generosity will never be forgotten and your memory will live forever. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, ( la Funeraria de NUESTRA Comunidad ), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport from 6-9 P.M. A Service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. At the Pena de Horeb Church, 536 Park Street, Bridgeport with interment in Park Cemetery immediately following.
