Obituary of Felipe Ortiz

ORTIZ Felipe Ortiz, age 83 of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest at Ludlowe Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Fairfield on Thursday, August 16, 2007. Felipe was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on August 23, 1923 to the late Maria DeJesus and Inocencio Ortiz. He was a U.S. Army veteran as well as serving as a chef for the U.S. Merchant Marines. With his passion for cooking, he ultimately retired as the head chef for the Danbury Federal Penitentiary. He was predeceased by his wife Eufemia; his son, Inocencio; three brothers, German, Pedro and Santo; and three sisters, Julia, Margarita and Isidra. He leaves behind two sons, Felipe "Rubio" Ortiz Jr. and Jose Ortiz and his wife, Veronica; 14 grandchildren, Inocencio Jr., Ernest, Diana, Lisa, Christopher, Ivory, Millie, Silvia, Efrem, Tina, Yvonne, Symone, Natasha and Vicky; five great-grandchildren, Roberto, Jamil, James Perfecto, Anthony and Sydney. He also leaves two sisters, Rosa Jamain and Raquel Rodriguez; and one brother, Carlos Ortiz; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 20, 2007, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Fueraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport followed by interment in St. Michael''s Cemetery, Stratford.
