Obituary of Santiago Merced

Santiago Merced, age 84, beloved husband, father and patriarch of the Merced family passed away into the arms of the Lord on November 5, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital. Santiago was born on July 25, 1926 in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. He is the son of the late Jose Merced and late Adela Castro. He retired from Textron Lycoming in 1992. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and also enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends and family. He was also known for being a skilled tomato gardener. He leaves behind to cherish his beloved wife Carmen Merced of Bridgeport; his daughters Elizabeth Merced of Bridgeport and Norma Merced-Texidor and her husband, Carlos of West Haven; two grandchildren Carlos and Eric; and a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss him. He is predeceased by his son Hector Merced. Calling hours for Santiago will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 5-7 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (La Funeraria Nuestra), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 beginning at 8A.M. at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Bridgeport. Interment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT.
