Obituary of Carmen D. Reyes Cruz

Carmen D. Reyes Cruz, age 83, of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in her residence while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to the late Pedro Reyes and the late Dolores Matos. Her quote "I tried my best to serve the Lord at all times" truly represents her way of life. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Carmen was a devout Catholic. She was a member of the Original Iglesia Virgen de la Providencia, a church that later became St. Anthony's Parish; Soon after ST. Anthony's became St. Peter's Parish and throughout all those years, she was with her church each day as a minister of Eucharist, she was a Cursillista, part of the Confrada, and a Ccd instructor; Clearly evident that God was a priority in her life and she stopped at nothing to be an active part of her church; She is survived by her beloved husband Midas Cruz whom she married over 66 years ago; her children Pedro Cruz, Jose M. Cruz (Marilyn Gonzalez), Luis M. Cruz (Saudi), and Pablo Cruz; her siblings Manuel Reyes, Luis Reyes, Heriberto Reyes, Juan Reyes, Margarita Colon, and Socorro Reyes; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; ; and a host of other relatives and friends with special mention great-niece Jennifer Reyes who non stop cared for her great aunt and all that will miss her dearly. Also a special mention of gratitude towards Maria, Darlene and Quetzy for the exceptional care they provided to Carmen through the toughest of times. In addition to her parents she is also predeceased by her brothers the late Pedro Reyes and the late Victor Reyes. Carmen personally requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to St. Jude children's research hospital in her memory as she faithfully did month after month. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 East Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Funeral Mass has been scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. (DIRECTLY) in St. Peter Church, 695 Colorado Ave, Bridgeport, CT. Final Disposition will conclude in Puerto Rico at the convenience of the family.
