Obituary of Luz Celenia Rodriguez

Rev. Luz C. Rodriguez departed peacefully to be with her heavenly Father on 03/12/17 surrounded by her loving family. She had by her side her husband of fifty years; Isaias Rodriguez Sr., her loving children Ruth Cruz and her husband Jose Cruz Jr. of Stratford, CT, Isaias Rodriguez Jr. and his wife Eileen Rodriguez of Bridgeport, CT, and Sonia Collazo and her husband Daniel Collazo Sr. of Bowie, MD. In addition to her husband and children, she was surrounded by her loving grandchildren; James E. Rodriguez, Anthony J. Cruz, Jeremy R. Cruz, Cristian J. Rodriguez, Cristal L. Collazo and Daniel Collazo Jr. She also had the great privilege of being Great Grandmother to Gabriella S. Cruz and Cameron R. Cruz. Luz was born in Rio Piedras, P.R. on 12/12/43 to the late Juan Santaella and the late Providencia Morales. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to cook (especially her Puerto Rican dishes) and was the modern day version of “Tabitha” in the Bible. Luz was a devoted woman of God and was an ordained minister of the Spanish Eastern District of the Assemblies of God. She will be sorely missed by her loving congregation and those whom she came in contact with. Luz was also survived by her brothers Rafael Santaella Sr. and Antonio Santaella Sr. in addition to a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Juan M. Santaella and Francisco Santaella Sr. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thurday, March 16, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until commencement of a celebration of life service at Star of Jacob Christian Church, 506 Howard Avenue, New Haven, CT. Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, March 17, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Third Star of Jacob Christian Church, 204 Peck Street, New Haven, followed by her interment at Mt. Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
