Obituary of Cruz Hernandez Cortes

Hernandez Cortes-Cruz- age 81, of Bridgeport, passed away into the peaceful rest of the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT; Cruz was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico to the late Isidro Hernandez and the late Juana Cortes; Cruz loved the Lord and loved her church Blessed Sacrament where she was part of the Confrada for many years. She loved to cook, and her pasteles were a yearly tradition. She loved to do them "old school way" regardless of the time and effort invested as she believed it was the right way and when it came to taste, some may say she is absolutely right!. She enjoyed going to the Community Room where she loved and spending time with other residents, although, spending time with her family was probably her biggest joy. Cruz is survived by her sons Enrique Hernandez and his wife Madeline Hernandez and Juan Hernandez and is wife Iris Hernandez; Her daughters Nereida Ramos, Elba Figueroa and her husband Luis and Lissette Orama and her husband Amado Nieves; her brother Jose L. Hernandez; her sister Agustina Hernandez and Maria Hernandez; eleven grandchildren with special mention of Edwin Garcia and his wife Leyda whom she considered her own; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom will dearly miss her; She was predeceased by one Brother the late Angel Hernandez and her husbands the late Juan Hernandez and the late Andres Orama; Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 7-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, 2017 beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament church. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
