Obituary of Ramona Ayala Alvarez

Ramona Ayala Alvarez, age 72, of Bridgeport passed away into the Peaceful rest of the Lord on July 24, 2011 in Smilow Cancer Hospital, New Haven, CT. Ramona was born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico before moving into the Bridgeport area over 60 years ago. She is the beloved wife of Remigio Medina Alvarez (Raymond "El Mecanico"), whom she married in 1957. Ramona was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church for over 45 years and had been a cursillista for over 30 years in the church. She was employed at Emsar Research for many years prior to her retirement. In addition to her husband she is survived by her sons Robert Alvarez and Israel Alvarez of Bridgeport; Daughters Nilda I. Alvarez of Bridgeport; ten grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; two brothers Andres Ayala and Alberto Tito Ayala and a host of other relatives and many many friends who will sorely miss her. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 26, 2011from 6-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, ( La Funeraria de NUESTRO Pueblo), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport; Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 beginning at 8:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 9:00 A.M.
