Obituary of Lydia Lozada-Ortiz

Lydia Lozada-Ortiz, age 78 of Stratford went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2011 as she rested on the shoulder of her son John Ortiz; Lydia is the beloved wife of the recently departed Cristobal Lozada-Ortiz. Lydia was born on January 6, 1933 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the Late Manuel Lopez and the Late Francisca Diaz; Lydia came to the United States at the early age of 18 and settle with her husband and family in the greater Bridgeport area. Lydia became and active member of the Good Shepherd Christian Church and had remained an active member for over 50 years until she went to be with the Lord and had directed the benevolent program of the church. She had been employed at the Bassick Company for over 26 years and at the Park City Adult Day Care for over 20 years as a recreation Specialist. She is survived by her son John Ortiz and his wife Diane of Stratford, CT who always went above and beyond to make sure mom was always taken care of; her daughters Miriam Perez and her husband Monserrate of Bridgeport, Priscilla Stevens of Milford, CT, Margaret Acosta of Stratford and Stephanie Lozada-Vazquez and her husband Nelson of Milford, CT; She will be also dearly missed by her 12 grandchildren Tiffany Lozada, Isaias Perez, Rachel Lozada-Santiago, Noel Acosta Jr., David Perez, Priscilla Soto, Robert James Stevens, Nicole Lozada, Jonathan Cruz, Alexander James Stevens, Hannah Cruz and Nelson Vazquez as well as two adoptive grandchildren Tiffany and Kimberly Alicea; her 12 great grandchildren Kimberly Acosta, Christian Perez, Adam Santiago, Jasmine Soto, Mikael Acosta, Angelina Perez, Giovanni Perez, John Santiago, Marc Soto, Jr., Lorelei Lozada, Jaiden Perez, and Dominick Perez; two brothers Manuel Lopez and William Lopez; and several nieces and nephews; She was predeceased by two brothers the Late David Lopez and the Late Manolin Lopez; Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 6 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. which will be the beginning of the evening service at the church. This will all be held DIRECTLY at the Good Shepherd Christian Church, 725 Hancock Avenue, Bridgeport with Rev. Dr. Simon Castillo, Officiating; Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 beginning at 10:00 A.M.
