Obituary of Gonzalo Ortiz Padin

Gonzalo Ortiz Padin, age 87, of Bridgeport passed away into the peaceful rest of the Lord on June 22, 2011 in Maefair Healthcare, Trumbull, CT; Gonzalo was born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico but had moved to the Bridgeport area many years ago, although relocating back to Puerto Rico again, then back to Bridgeport to be closer to his family. He is the son of the Late Joaquin Ortiz and the late Dolores Padin; He was employed for many years at the Algonquin Club in Bridgeport before retiring, but when he first moved to Bridgeport he had opened El Nilo Restaurant; Gonzalo was an avid NY Yankees Fan who had a wonderful personality and everyone loved. He loved Gardening and loved being in Puerto Rico, cultivating the land and being with his animals. He is survived by his wife and lifelong friend Ramona Ortiz; sons Luis Batisa, Fred Batista, Willie Ortiz, and Gonzalo Ortiz Jr; daughters Nydia Charleton, Luz Ocasio, Maria Maldonado, Anna Batista, Diana Weber and Marta Alfaro wife of Elliot Alfaro; brother Ruben Ortiz; Sisters Aurora Ortiz, Antonia Ortiz Canales and Maria Ortiz; many grandchildren and several great grandchildren; He was prededceased by his sisters the late Juanita Ortiz, the late Felicita Ortiz and the late Fabiana Ortiz and brothers the late Secundino Ortiz the late Juan Ortiz and the Late Francisco Ortiz; The family would like to thank Remesa Daycare in Stratford for their compassionate care and Love of Gonzalo in the most recent years of his life. Also, they would like to thank Elsa and Nellie, the nurses who took care of him at home and did so with great care and love. Funeral services will take place on Monday and June 27, 2011 beginning at 8:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church; Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT; Friends may attend calling hours on Sunday June 26, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, ( La Funeraria de NUESTRO Pueblo), 426 E.
